Minimalistic lifestyles are becoming more common across the world though a life with less clutter sounds appealing it begs the question of what will we leave behind. This question is the inspiration behind this series. I have been very fortunate to inherit my great grandparents’ home and all their belongings as I dug through their things I began to get a sense of who they were and what their lives were like. This did however spark a question in my mind “What will I leave behind when I'm gone”.
This series of 6 pieces of art features a vase that was left behind for me by various family members as well as flowers to represent life and a letter in the background written by my grate grandmother. Each artwork is a 11inx14in Gelli Plate Print
My goal with this series is to get people thinking about their legacy and why they will leave behind to their loved ones and the world with the flowers representing life and the family heirlooms representing death. I think it's important to recognize one's own mortality it is my belief that by doing so we become more aware of what we bring to the world around us.
